December on HBO Max brings Ladrões with Austin Butler, horror, the Beleza Fatal special, a Louvre heist documentary and major franchises.

This December, HBO Max leans into action-packed stories, fantasy and supernatural horror. In addition, the platform bets on true-crime documentaries and nostalgic specials.
Key premieres include the Austin Butler-led film Ladrões, the slasher Um Verão Infernal and the supernatural chiller Xamã: O Exorcista Pagão. At the same time, the romantic fantasy A Grande Viagem da Sua Vida unites Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.

Ladrões kicks off the month
In Ladrões, premiering December 5, Hank Thompson was a high school baseball prodigy who can no longer play. Even so, his life seems to be on track in New York, with a bartending job, a great girlfriend and his favorite team on a miracle title run.
Things change when his neighbor Russ asks him to look after his cat for a few days. Suddenly, Hank finds himself surrounded by a colorful crew of dangerous gangsters, all wanting something from him. The problem is, he has no idea what it is.
As the noose tightens, Hank must use all his wits to survive long enough to uncover the truth. The cast features Austin Butler, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Benito A Martínez Ocasio and Carol Kane.
The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky from a script by Charlie Huston. It is produced by Jeremy Dawson, Dylan Golden, Ari Handel and Darren Aronofsky.
Camp horror in Um Verão Infernal
Premiering December 26, Um Verão Infernal follows Jason Hochberg, a 24-year-old counselor arriving at Camp Pineway. He believes his biggest challenge will be feeling out of sync with the teenage staff.
He soon discovers a masked killer stalking the campgrounds and brutally picking off counselors one by one. The laid-back summer atmosphere quickly turns into a fight for survival.
The cast includes Fred Hechinger, Abby Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Billy Bryk, Finn Wolfhard, Pardis Saremi, Rosebud Baker and Adam Pally. A Grande Viagem da Sua Vida mixes romance and fantasy
Also arriving December 26, A Grande Viagem da Sua Vida joins the Do Cine pra HBO Max slate. The story asks: what if you could open a door, step through and relive a defining moment from your past?
Single strangers Sarah and David meet at a friend’s wedding and, through an unexpected twist of fate, embark together on this journey. They find themselves in a funny, emotional adventure revisiting pivotal moments from their lives.
As they walk back through these memories, they illuminate the paths that led them to the present. Perhaps they even gain the chance to reshape their futures. The film stars Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell, Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Folk horror in Xamã: O Exorcista Pagão
In Xamã: O Exorcista Pagão, premiering December 12, a missionary family travels to rural Ecuador to convert the local Indigenous population. At first, their mission appears to progress smoothly.
Everything shifts when their young son enters a forbidden local cave and returns possessed by a demonic spirit. Candice believes a traditional Catholic exorcism will free him from the evil presence.
However, local shamans know the entity predates their religion and must be confronted according to ancient traditions. If not, the demon could annihilate them all. The cast features Sara Canning, Daniel Gillies and Jett Klyne.
The film is directed by Antonio Negret and blends supernatural horror with cultural conflict and psychological tension. It offers a dark take on faith, fear and ancestral power.
Especial Beleza Fatal revisits a hit telenovela
The long-awaited Especial Beleza Fatal lands on HBO Max on December 15. Filmed at Mansão Argento, a key location in the telenovela, the special revisits iconic sequences and storylines.

The crime took place on October 19, 2025, at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Viewers follow the moment the thieves breach the museum’s perimeter and vanish with more than US$ 100 million in priceless treasures.

December also brings live sports to HBO Max. The Paulistão Feminino reaches the semifinal stage on December 4, with matches available on the platform.
