Fancy Africa Brazil makes its debut in Salvador with an international fashion showcase that connects Bahia to global African design. The project brings together independent brands from different African countries and closes the city’s Black November program with creativity, representation and cultural exchange.

The initiative is led by Mozambican founder and creative director King Levi, who presents the project in the capital of Bahia for the first time. The pocket fashion show will take place on November 30 during the Feira Preta Festival, at Docas 1, in the Comércio district, with a proposal to expand aesthetic and entrepreneurial dialogues between Africa and Brazil.

    Identity, ancestry and contemporary fashion

Salvador, recognized worldwide as one of the most expressive centers of the African diaspora, will host a symbolic encounter that highlights heritage, artistic narratives and contemporary creation. The action reinforces how African aesthetics continue to inspire and shape local identity through new creative languages.

With Fancy Africa Brazil, the initiative strengthens the Afro-Brazilian fashion movement by amplifying visibility for stylists, makeup artists, braiders and other professionals who develop an aesthetic repertoire rooted in African matrices and visual culture.

    International lineup and cultural exchange

A team of designers and models will arrive in Salvador on November 21, presenting a broad and vibrant view of contemporary African fashion. Participating brands include Xigubo, Camila Kutsura, Abi Creations, Bravaas, Ilda Versátil, Puntz Wear and T’sava By Ancha, along with Brazilian creators Rey Vilas Boas and Tia Ró Fuxiqueira.

The collections highlight handcrafted techniques, cultural heritage and innovative design, reinforcing Africa’s growing influence and recognition in the global fashion industry.

    Bahia–Africa creative bridge

Developed in strategic partnership with Feira Preta, the project establishes a new route for creative and entrepreneurial exchange between African and Afro-Brazilian communities, strengthening historical ties through fashion, identity and collective empowerment.

According to King Levi, the showcase aims to broaden the perception of African fashion. “Bahia embraces Afro-centered fashion, but often based on imagined references. Fancy Africa exists to present the real Africa — one of royalty, luxury and creativity. Our mission is to break stereotypes and affirm our value,” says the creative director.

    About Fancy Africa

Founded in 2017 in Maputo, Fancy Africa promotes African and Afro-descendant artistic, cultural and entrepreneurial expressions. Held twice a year in Mozambique, the initiative encourages identity, memory and resistance through fashion, fostering exchanges between Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, Guinea-Bissau, Botswana and Afro-Brazilian communities.
