Brazilian Northeast tops holiday travel searches; Gramado, Balneário Camboriú, Buenos Aires and Santiago also stand out among favorites.

Northeast remains top choice for holidays

With school holidays and year-end celebrations approaching, Brazilian travelers are defining their plans for December and January. A Booking.com survey shows that Brazil is the most searched country worldwide for trips between 20 December 2025 and 3 January 2026. This reflects strong domestic leisure tourism for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The study points to an 18% increase in searches compared to the same period last year. Within Brazil, Porto de Galinhas (Pernambuco) recorded a 35% rise, while Maceió (Alagoas) grew 29%. In addition, Pera Turismo, the Grupo Pereira travel agency, confirms the Northeast as leader in searches and bookings, with Fortaleza (Ceará) among the highlights.

Beach destinations remain among the top picks for families and couples seeking warm weather and full infrastructure. Thus, the holiday period consolidates the region as the country’s main tourist hotspot. A mix of beaches, resorts and festive programming drives demand.

    Southern cities gain visibility

Beyond the coast, Southern cities are also on travelers’ radar. Gramado (Rio Grande do Sul) and Balneário Camboriú (Santa Catarina) attract visitors looking for milder temperatures, refined gastronomy and Christmas-themed attractions. In this way, they strengthen their position as favorite year-end destinations.

A robust events calendar and consolidated tourist infrastructure sustain demand for these cities. Meanwhile, the variety of travel profiles allows the public to alternate between beach, countryside and urban experiences. The trend favors domestic destinations with easy access and diverse activities.

Buenos Aires and Santiago lead short-haul trips

On the international front, Buenos Aires and Santiago stand out as the most sought-after destinations for short trips. Geographic proximity, a more favorable exchange rate and a wide range of cultural experiences influence Brazilian travelers. Thus, both capitals become strategic options for families and couples during the holiday break.

National manager of Pera Turismo, Mayra Pereira, highlights the profile of current demand. According to her, travelers are prioritizing destinations with good value for money, solid infrastructure and activities for all ages. Price, accessibility and experience balance have guided decisions.

“We have seen growing demand for destinations that combine good value, full infrastructure and activities for all ages. The Northeast remains on top thanks to its stunning beaches and strong hotel offerings, while Gramado and Balneário Camboriú stand out for their events calendar. Internationally, Buenos Aires and Santiago emerge as accessible options with quick flights, ideal for school holidays,” says Mayra Pereira.

Pera Turismo expands services beyond corporate travel

Originally created to handle Grupo Pereira’s corporate travel needs, Pera Turismo has grown into a full-service agency open to the general public. Today, it offers personalized consultancy, support for holiday planning and flexible payment options. Among the benefits is the possibility of installment payments via Vuon Card.

The agency operates physical branches in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul, and offers online assistance nationwide. In this way, it supports customers with package quotes, ticket issuing and itinerary planning. The team follows travel trends closely to guide choices more effectively.

Those interested can contact Pera Turismo through its official channels to request quotes and learn about available plans. Thus, travelers find professional support when selecting domestic and international destinations. The aim is to make year-end holidays better planned and more accessible.
