Vila Galé Collection hotels in Brazil celebrate New Year’s Eve with a themed dinner honoring six remarkable women in history.
Themed New Year’s Eve in Brazilian units
The Vila Galé Collection hotels in Brazil have started the countdown to the year-end festivities. The Amazônia, Ouro Preto and Sunset Cumbuco properties will welcome guests with special décor and an exclusive New Year’s Eve dinner.
This year, the network chose to honor women through its holiday menu. As a result, dishes and desserts pay tribute to female figures who left their mark on history in different fields.
Six historic women as inspiration
The honorees include Carolina Maria de Jesus (writer and diarist) and Amália Rodrigues (singer and actress). The list also features Portuguese chef Maria de Lourdes Modesto and Margherita of Savoy, the first queen consort of unified Italy.
Rounding out the group are Maria Quitéria de Jesus, considered the first woman to join the Brazilian Army, and Brazilian revolutionary Anita Garibaldi. In this way, New Year’s Eve gains a narrative that highlights courage, culture and female resilience.
Dishes that tell stories
One of the menu highlights is “Caldo da Resistência – Feijão de Carolina”, inspired by Carolina Maria de Jesus. The dish is a hearty black bean soup made with garlic, onion, bay leaf, pepper, olive oil, fresh herbs and slices of smoked sausage or crispy bacon.
The dinner also pays tribute to Maria Quitéria de Jesus, who disguised herself as a man to fight for Brazil’s independence. In her honor, the New Year’s Eve menu features a fish and seafood moqueca, a nod to her fondness for fishing.
For dessert, the rice pudding “Memórias de Portugal” acknowledges chef Maria de Lourdes Modesto. She became known for rescuing and valuing traditional Portuguese cuisine, researching and spreading authentic recipes across the country.
Complete New Year’s Eve gastronomic experience
“We celebrate these inspiring figures through six special dishes and desserts,” says Clodoaldo Ramos, executive chef of the Vila Galé group. He notes that the New Year’s Eve offering goes well beyond the tributes.
According to the chef, the dinner includes a wide selection of salads, sides and hot dishes. In addition, Vila Galé’s traditional New Year’s menu returns, featuring grilled lobster and a variety of fresh seafood.
Thus, the Vila Galé Collection hotels propose a New Year’s Eve that combines gastronomy, memory and the celebration of women’s stories. The themed dinner reinforces the brand’s commitment to curated, meaningful hospitality experiences.
