Unimed Leste Fluminense promotes free “Dezembro Laranja” event against skin cancer with activities on Icaraí beach, in Niterói.
Free awareness event by the beach
On 14 December, starting at 8 a.m., Unimed Leste Fluminense will hold the event “Dezembro Laranja – Juntos contra o câncer de pele”. The initiative offers free activities focused on health promotion and awareness about skin cancer prevention.
The action takes place at Icaraí beach, in front of São Judas Tadeu Church, in Niterói. In this way, the cooperative brings information and health services directly to people enjoying the waterfront.
Physical activities, wellness and basic check-ups
The program combines physical activities, wellness actions and basic health services, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis. It also reinforces the need for sun protection habits throughout the year.
The schedule starts with a yoga class from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by a lively dance class from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. The activities are free and open to participants of different ages.
Throughout the event, visitors can book massage sessions on site. There will also be a Health Space, offering basic services such as blood pressure checks and blood glucose tests.
Prevention calendar and ongoing commitment
This initiative is part of the cooperative’s annual prevention calendar. In October, Unimed Leste Fluminense promoted Pink October actions to raise awareness about breast cancer.
In November, it organized a Blue November walk, encouraging men’s health care. Thus, the cooperative maintains ongoing health education campaigns throughout the year.
With Dezembro Laranja, Unimed reinforces its commitment to comprehensive health and reliable information for the community. The event encourages daily sun-safe behaviors that help prevent skin cancer.
