Rio de Janeiro, December 11, 2025 – The purchase and registration window for the 2026 Rio Marathon opens this Thursday, December 11, at 12 p.m. The deadline to confirm entries runs until December 15, at 3 p.m. Only athletes drawn in the official lottery based on the Federal Lottery results may register in this phase.
Classified runners can sign up for their chosen distance through the Go Dream platform within the set period. The rules do not allow transfer of bib ownership at any stage. Therefore, each spot belongs exclusively to the athlete selected in the draw.
Waiting list and reclassification process
For athletes who were not drawn, the process continues as planned. The waiting list remains active and will be used if there are unclaimed spots. In that case, the system will call new runners according to the original lottery order.
If some selected athletes do not complete their purchase within the deadline, the system will trigger successive reclassifications. Newly invited runners will receive an email notification with a personal, non-transferable registration link. It is important that non-selected athletes regularly check their inbox.
How the Rio Marathon lottery worked
The selection process started with free registration on the Go Dream platform between November 12 and 26, 2025. During sign-up, each participant chose their preferred race distance. On December 5, all registered runners received a unique lucky number for the draw.
The final list of winners was defined using the Federal Lottery results from December 6. The list of classified athletes was then published on December 10. Each selected runner was sent an individual, non-transferable link to confirm their entry.
From the outset, the regulations made it clear that there would be no change of ownership for race entries. If a spot is not confirmed within the time limit, it returns to the system for reclassification. This procedure ensures transparency and respect for the lottery order.
Inside the 24th Rio Marathon edition
The 24th Rio Marathon will take place over the Corpus Christi holiday, from June 3 to 7, in Rio de Janeiro. The event includes races of 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K | Michelob Ultra, the premium beer from Ambev. There is also the Cidade Maravilhosa Challenge 21K + 42K | Dorflex Max, the event’s official pain reliever.

The Rio Marathon has institutional support from the Rio de Janeiro City Hall and is produced by Spiridon Eventos and Dream Factory.
