Czech Republic reveals hidden nature escapes for 2026

Forests, rock cities and quiet mountain ranges show a lesser-known Czech Republic for peaceful nature trips in 2025 and 2026.

Year-end time to plan new journeys

As 2025 comes to an end, many travelers start planning routes for the year ahead. For those seeking different experiences in Europe, far from crowded hotspots, the Czech Republic is a surprising choice. The country offers little-explored natural areas where history, silence and adventure coexist.

In 2026, the destination positions itself as ideal for reconnecting with nature and discovering a less obvious side of Europe. Beyond castles and historic towns, Czech landscapes include forests, trails and preserved ranges. Thus, the country appeals to visitors interested in ecotourism and wellness-focused travel.

Emperor’s Forest: stargazing in Karlovy Vary region

In the Karlovy Vary region, famous for its spa towns, lies one of the country’s best-kept secrets: the Emperor’s Forest. This vast stretch of almost untouched nature brings together ponds, trails and traditional rural villages. It is a perfect setting for peaceful hikes and wellness getaways.

The area is ideal for observing local wildlife and enjoying silence away from city noise. In addition, it is one of the regions with the lowest light pollution in the Czech Republic. As a result, it offers excellent conditions for stargazing and night experiences under clear, star-filled skies.

Adršpach–Teplice: stone labyrinth in Hradec Králové

In the Hradec Králové region, the Adršpach–Teplice rock area presents one of Central Europe’s most striking landscapes. Visitors walk through a natural labyrinth of stone towers, narrow canyons and hidden lakes between massive rock formations. Well-marked trails allow exploration on foot and, in certain stretches, by boat.

At every turn, new viewpoints reveal dramatic shapes and light contrasts on the sandstone walls. The site is the largest sandstone rock complex in Central Europe. Its almost unreal appearance has already turned it into a filming location for several movie productions.

Iron Mountains: slow-time trails in Pardubice

The Iron Mountains, in the Pardubice region, form a little-known range even among European travelers. The area is ideal for hiking, mountain biking and visiting villages where time seems to move more slowly. It suits both active trips and quiet nature breaks.

Surrounded by forests and rural heritage, the mountains create a calm backdrop for outdoor escapes. Interestingly, the name does not come from mining activity, but from the dark color the slopes take on at sunset. Old medieval legends helped to cement the Iron Mountains identity.

Nature as a highlight in the Czech Republic

These destinations show that the Czech Republic is much more than castles, beer culture and historic cities. The country is also a strong candidate for slow travel, ecotourism and wellness trips. Forests, rock formations and small villages invite travelers to slow down and reconnect.

Short travel distances, solid infrastructure and competitive prices compared with other European destinations are additional advantages. Ending the year by dreaming of a different kind of trip can help start 2026 with new perspectives. In the Czech Republic, nature also plays the leading role in the journey.
