GIULIA BE releases the dark pop single “poltergeist” in English, expanding her trilingual project and exploring the idea of ghosting.
A dark pop take on haunting love
Back in English, GIULIA BE presents “poltergeist”, now available on digital platforms. The track is part of the trilingual project that carries the same name and draws from the concept of ghosting, when someone vanishes from a relationship without explanation.
In the song, the one who disappears remains as a kind of haunting presence, not for nostalgia, but for emotional control. As a result, the impact is so strong that the person left behind keeps asking, commenting and looking for signs, unable to move on.
Beats, irony and international production
Written by GIULIA, “poltergeist” balances pop beats, a dark atmosphere and a pulsating aesthetic. The lyrics showcase the singer’s fluency in English and mix power with irony by stating that “my love is like a poltergeist, it keeps you up at night”.
The track is produced by Stuart Crichton, who also worked on “fool for love”, the first release of the trilingual project. In addition, Crichton’s resume includes collaborations with Backstreet Boys, Kesha, Elton John and Louis Tomlinson, reinforcing the global scope of the single.
“Quando trabalhei pela primeira vez com o Stuart em ‘fool for love’, vi que ele entendia meu jeito de cantar e de sentir. Eu escrevi ‘poltergeist’ há alguns anos, mas não era o melhor momento para lançar. Agora, levamos essa narrativa para um lugar mais intenso e profundo”, explica GIULIA.
Video explores control and magnetism
The single’s energy extends to the music video, directed by Olivia Mucida, with creative direction by GIULIA, Olivia and Lennyn Salinas. On screen, a central figure fully aware of her magnetism commands the visuals.
Laid over satin sheets and surrounded by blades orbiting her body, she does not compete for attention, she draws it in. Each frame highlights that the real power lies not in vanishing, but in remaining just out of reach.
“O conceito veio dessa provocação: o que é mais forte do que ghosting? O poltergeist. A pessoa desaparece e segue sua vida, mas continua assombrando. A letra mostra um personagem ‘invocando’ essa presença, perguntando se a viram, onde ela está, como se tentasse chamá-la de volta”, completa a artista.
A trilingual universe in chapters
“poltergeist” continues the trilingual audiovisual project “GIULIA BE”. Previous chapters such as “fool for love”, “bye bye bahia”, “viciada” and “delícia proibida” have revealed different sides of the artist, from surrender and desire to intensity and letting go.
The journey moves forward next week, when GIULIA revisits the Spanish chapter with “tonta”, scheduled for December 11. In this way, the release calendar sustains the narrative structure behind the project.
According to the singer, the songs were written over the last several years. Some ideas date back almost a decade, while others were composed just months ago, forming a tapestry of highly personal stories and observations.
“São músicas que fui colecionando ao longo dos últimos anos. Algumas escrevi há 9 anos e outras que compus há apenas 4 meses. São retalhos de histórias extremamente pessoais, nem sempre sobre mim, que revelam uma abundância interna de opiniões e estilos musicais. Por isso dei o meu nome para o projeto, pois ele é o maior reflexo dos processos que acontecem no meu cérebro diariamente”, explica GIULIA.
Creative maturity and plans for 2026
The “GIULIA BE” project will continue throughout 2026, when the artist resumes releases from her most ambitious phase to date. The universe includes 21 songs and 21 videos, built to reveal every layer of her creative identity.
This chapter-based construction reflects how she organizes her catalog. English connects to life between Brazil and the United States, Spanish expresses emotional intensity, and Portuguese links back to roots and affective memory.
Through this process, GIULIA enters a moment of clear creative maturity and positions herself as one of the most promising voices of her generation. As part of Sony Music’s global roster, under the label’s international wing and with direct support from executive Afo Verde, she leads a project that unites global reach with strong visual and artistic coherence.
Teamwork and global reach
The project is developed alongside her brother Dany Marinho and producers who have worked with Rihanna, Lana Del Rey, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and Madonna. As a result, “GIULIA BE” charts not only her growth as a singer and songwriter, but also her international path.
The ambition is to speak directly to audiences in Brazil, Latin America, the United States and Europe. Each new release, therefore, helps build a consistent presence in the global pop landscape while maintaining a distinct artistic voice.
