Cabo Frio, on Brazil’s coast, hosts the Liga do Natal Festival and celebrates the Blue Flag season on three award-winning beaches.

    December brings culture and nature

December starts on a high note in Cabo Frio (RJ) with events that attract residents and tourists. Highlights include the Liga do Natal Festival and official Blue Flag ceremonies.

This weekend, on December 6 and 7 (Saturday and Sunday), Praça da Cidadania welcomes the Liga do Natal Festival. Activities run from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with free admission.

    Liga do Natal Festival

Supported by the Cabo Frio Convention & Visitors Bureau, the festival celebrates 10 years with a special program. The agenda is free and designed for all ages, combining music, art and local traditions.

Among the main attractions is Theo Bial, performing timeless classics by Chico Buarque. Another key moment is the show by Giuliano Eriston, winner of The Voice Brasil, alongside the group Samba da Benção.

With a samba roda format and family-friendly atmosphere, the concert promises energy and emotion. The festival reinforces the Christmas spirit in one of Cabo Frio’s postcard settings.

    Family-friendly activities

Children enjoy a dedicated area with a Christmas show by Tia Dani and the playful Baleias Voadoras. The space also offers games and storytelling sessions.

The mix of performances and interactive activities turns the square into a gathering point for families. Thus, the festival strengthens the city’s cultural calendar at the end of the year.

Blue Flag on three Cabo Frio beaches

Next week, Cabo Frio celebrates the official start of the 2025/2026 Blue Flag season. Flag-raising ceremonies take place at 9 a.m. on three different dates.

The certified beaches are Peró (Dec. 9), Foguete (Dec. 11) and Pontal do Peró (Dec. 15). Together, they form a select group of destinations recognized for environmental excellence and coastal management.

The Blue Flag label highlights high water quality, safety, infrastructure and coastal services. It also reflects long-term commitment to environmental education and sustainable practices.

    Three simultaneous certifications

According to Maria Inês Oliveros, president of the Cabo Frio Convention, this season is especially symbolic. Peró Beach renews its certification for the eighth consecutive year.

At the same time, Foguete and Pontal do Peró join the list of Brazilian Blue Flag beaches. The achievement expands Cabo Frio’s international visibility as a sustainable seaside destination.

In Brazil, the Blue Flag is a seal of excellence that values tourism spots focused on ecological preservation, accessibility and responsible economic growth. Cabo Frio aligns these principles with a strong cultural program.

    Culture, environment and tourism

The combination of a Christmas festival and environmental milestones strengthens the city’s image. Visitors find live music, children’s activities and internationally certified beaches in the same trip.

In this context, Cabo Frio consolidates itself as a complete destination for those seeking culture, leisure and preserved nature on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
