Retrato Filmes and MUBI have released the trailer for Sentimental Value, the Cannes Grand Prix-winning film and Norway’s submission for the 2026 Oscars. Set to hit Brazilian cinemas on December 25, Joachim Trier’s latest work follows the international success of The Worst Person in the World.
Star-studded cast and award-winning talent
The film features Renate Reinsve, Best Actress winner at Cannes 2021, and Stellan Skarsgård, BAFTA nominee and Golden Globe winner. Elle Fanning, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, joins alongside rising stars Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Anders Danielsen Lie.
In Sentimental Value, Reinsve plays Nora, a theater actress who faces family tensions when reuniting with her father, Gustav Borg (Skarsgård), a former film director. When Nora declines the lead role in his new project, a series of conflicts unfolds involving her sister Agnes and the ambitious young star Rachel Kemp (Fanning).

The film premiered in the Main Competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, receiving widespread critical acclaim and winning the Grand Prix. Sentimental Value further establishes Joachim Trier as a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema, building on the success of The Worst Person in the World.
