Free event celebrates International Women’s Day with seaside walk and preventive health services in Niterói.
Awareness and well-being
On March 15,
PróOnco Mulher, in partnership with
Oncomed and
Med.Co, will hold the
3rd Women’s Walk in Niterói. Created by oncological surgeon
Dr. Rodrigo Oliveira Souto, the event marks
International Women’s Day and promotes awareness of early disease detection, including
breast cancer. According to Dr. Souto, the initiative highlights the importance of consistent healthcare for women. Moreover, it encourages healthy habits and appreciation of self-care.
“Our goal is to remind everyone that every day is Women’s Day and that campaigns help reinforce this idea.”
Route and structure
The
2.4 km route starts at the
Tourist Service Center (CAT), located at the Neltur kiosk in Boa Viagem, and ends at
São Judas Tadeu Church, on Icaraí Beach. Thus, the activity combines exercise and community engagement. Throughout the route, participants will find
hydration points, chemical toilets, an ambulance, and a
Hospital Icaraí tent offering blood pressure and glucose checks and nutritional guidance. Organizers encourage everyone to wear
pink shirts as a symbol of support.
