Boutique Filmes unveils Encadeados, created by Daniel Berlinsky and produced by Tiago Mello, following a couple who returns to Paris to find their “love lock”.
Boutique Filmes has announced Encadeados, a new romantic comedy created and written by Daniel Berlinsky. The feature will be produced by Tiago Mello and is in early development. In addition, the story is set in Paris and begins with a symbolic gesture made during the couple’s honeymoon.
In the plot, a couple, after 25 years together, feels lost in their marriage and travels to Paris. Their goal is to find a love lock attached to the railings of a bridge over the Seine. However, once in the City of Light, they learn that to separate, they will need to rediscover what it means to love.
“Encadeados calls for a production that listens closely to detail and to the human side. Finding that kind of attentive ear at Boutique makes this partnership especially powerful.”
Daniel Berlinsky’s first feature film
Encadeados will be Berlinsky’s first feature film. His background includes projects for streaming and premium TV, such as Dona Beja for HBO, where he worked as an author and creative consultant. In addition, he created Efeito Colateral (2024), a telenovela developed for HBO Max in partnership with António Barreira.
After two decades at Globo, he ended an exclusivity deal to expand his work as a creator and creative producer. He is also the founder of Tramosfera. In this way, the new project marks his move into cinema within a career spanning theater, broadcast TV, and streaming.
“We’re very excited to work with Daniel, a great Brazilian author. Boutique believes Brazilian audiences want to see more romantic comedies in movie theaters, and we’re committed to delivering a film that honors the genre, with a strong cast and Paris as a location.”
The statement comes from Tiago Mello, partner and producer at Boutique Filmes. He says the company is betting on rom-coms for theaters and mentions plans to shoot in Paris. Thus, the project is positioned as an investment in the genre.
