Musical “Fala Sério, Mãe!”, starring writer Thalita Rebouças, debuts January 8 at Roxy with theatre, music and food experience.
Comedy musical for all ages
Based on the best-selling book by Thalita Rebouças, “Fala Sério, Mãe! – Elas só mudam de endereço” brings a new format to Roxy. The musical combines theatre, music, snacks and socializing in a single program. In this way, each performance becomes an emotional and family-friendly gathering.
Produced by SRCOM and Accioly Entretenimento, the show is designed as a large-scale production that brings generations together. The main premiere of the year takes over one of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic stages. Emotion, entertainment and family bonding share the spotlight.
The season runs from Thursday to Sunday in January, and on Saturdays and Sundays in February and March. The narrative mixes laughter, childhood memories and strong identification between mothers and children. The idea is to show that, in the end, they only change addresses.
Thalita Rebouças on stage
For the first time in more than two decades, Thalita Rebouças steps on stage as an actress. She plays Ângela Cristina, an intense, loving, over-the-top and unforgettable mother. The role marks a symbolic milestone in her 25-year career telling stories.
“I have been telling stories and connecting with you for 25 years. Now I will tell this story in a different way. On stage. For the first time,” says Thalita.
About 30 artists perform in a 1h20-long production. The musical blends original songs with hits that cross generations. As a result, it connects mothers, children, grandparents, grandchildren and opinionated uncles through humour and affection.
Hybrid language and digital set
The show plays with theatre, cinema, music and comedy in a hybrid, fast-paced language. Roxy’s cinema screen turns into an interactive set that responds to the cast. This creates a dynamic and immersive experience for the audience.
The digital scenography covers a 140 m² screen designed specifically for Roxy. The visual concept expands the language of the musical and reinforces its immersive character. It is one of the main highlights of the production.
The show has general direction by Abel Gomes and production direction by Sheila Roza. The script is written by Thalita Rebouças and Gustavo Reiz. The artistic team also includes Priscilla Mota, Tauã Delmiro, Rodrigo Negri and Tony Lucchesi, responsible for musical direction and arrangements.
Creative team and visual identity
The musical brings together a top-tier team from the Brazilian performing arts scene. According to Abel Gomes, every choice was guided by excellence, emotion and impact. In this sense, the show highlights collective work and transforms talent into a live stage experience.
The visual identity features costumes by Cláudia Kopke, set design by Tuca Mariana and lighting by Paulo Cesar Medeiros. Hair and make-up are created by Beto Carramanhos. Digital and audiovisual scenography is signed by Igor Corrêa.
The production inaugurates a new dramaturgy format at Roxy, which will now host narrative and musical shows in additional time slots. The venue keeps the musical “Aquele Abraço” on its schedule, now at 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. This strengthens Roxy’s role as a stage for live performing arts.
Snacks and food experience
Alongside the performance, the audience can enjoy a dedicated snack menu. The idea is to offer an emotional, uncomplicated food experience in tune with the show. Thus, sharing food becomes part of the family outing.
The menu is created by chef Caio Silva. The selection focuses on tradition, comfort and memory, with careful execution and respect for simplicity. Original flavours are highlighted in every recipe.
Highlights include toast with cheese cream and tomato confit (R$ 65) and tuna crudo with crispy rice, pickled red onion and aioli (R$ 95). Guests also find a mixed pastel platter with Serra da Canastra cheese and beef (R$ 75), tapioca cubes with sweet chilli jam (R$ 55), French fries (R$ 45) and mini hot dogs (three units, R$ 61).
Weekend lunch sessions
The musical will also offer special lunchtime sessions. On Saturday 10th, the show starts at 2 p.m., with doors opening at noon. On Sunday 11th, the session begins at 2:30 p.m., with the venue opening at 12 p.m.
On these dates, Roxy serves a Executive Menu at R$ 180 per person, including starter, main course and dessert. Options feature Caesar Roxy, classic carpaccio with Cipriani sauce and Picadinho do Chef with white rice, banana farofa and poached egg. Guests can also choose fish in nut crust with lemon risotto or buffalo mozzarella ravioli with Romesco sauce and basil.
Desserts include chocolate mousse with nut crumble, traditional milk pudding with caramel and fresh fruit of the day. A Kids Menu costs R$ 69 and includes a main course and a scoop of ice cream. Options are penne pomodoro, mignon pailard with fries, cheeseburger with fries or nuggets with fries, plus chocolate, strawberry or vanilla ice cream.
