Ibirapuera Park Music School closes 2025 with Elis Regina tribute, Christmas parade and free performances in São Paulo.
Year-end musical program
The Ibirapuera Park Music School (EMPI) ends the year with a diverse schedule. The program celebrates the richness of Brazilian music and the Christmas spirit. It also takes over venues such as the Planetarium, the Auditorium and the Marquise Arena.
The December lineup includes free and paid performances in different formats. Audiences can enjoy brass parades, experimental shows and student groups. In this way, the park turns into a cultural hub for all ages at the end of the year.
Free morning at the Marquise Arena
On December 20 (Saturday), the Marquise Arena hosts a free cultural morning. Performances run from 11:30 to 12:30 and bring together three EMPI pedagogical groups. It is a chance to see the semester’s work on an open-air stage.
The group Fora da Curva presents modern reinterpretations of Bossa Nova. Meanwhile, Amalgamar explores collective creation between MPB and jazz. Finally, Chegança offers a creative tribute to Indigenous resistance, inspired by the work of Antônio Nóbrega.
Elis Regina tribute at the Planetarium
On December 21 (Sunday), the Ibirapuera Planetarium hosts an emotional tribute to Elis Regina. Under the starry dome, EMPI musicians and singers perform great classics from her career. The experience combines live music, astronomy and visual poetry.
Sessions take place at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., in a cosmic, immersive setting. Tickets are priced at R\$72.00 (full) and R\$36.00 (half). Thus, the audience enjoys a unique sensory experience honoring one of Brazil’s greatest voices.
Christmas parade with fanfare beats
The Christmas atmosphere is complete with the Christmas Parade by the Gueto Brass group. This fanfare-style band is formed by former EMPI students. It blends 2000s international pop hits with traditional Christmas songs.
The group welcomes Santa Claus at the Ibirapuera Auditorium with free performances. The parades take place at 7 p.m. on December 20, 21 and 25. As a result, year-end celebrations gain a lively Brazilian rhythm.
Music education for young people
The Ibirapuera Park Music School is a Brazilian socio-cultural music education program managed by Urbia. It serves children and teenagers aged 12 to 18. Since 2005, the school has supported artistic training for young people in the park.
The academic staff includes more than 30 teachers specialized in voice and musical instruments. Courses cover drums, percussion, euphonium, trombone, horn, clarinet, tuba, saxophone, oboe and bassoon. In addition, students can learn piano, accordion, double bass, guitar, baritone horn and flute.
