“Meninos de Roça” recalls the duo’s humble childhood in rural Paraná and pays tribute to the power of dreams and family.

A song about roots and dreams

Some stories begin in dusty backyards and end up touching millions of hearts. That is the journey Chitãozinho & Xororó celebrate in “Meninos de Roça”, their new single released this Friday, December 12, on digital platforms.

The track pays homage to the duo’s humble path from the countryside of Paraná to the biggest stages in Brazil and abroad. In doing so, it revisits memories of a simple childhood and the transformative power of big dreams.

Simple childhood and a father’s faith

Written by Drica Pessoa, Xororó, Gabriel Araújo, Gustavo Chaves, Joseph Abrahão and Gabriel Barroso, the song paints a tender portrait of rural childhood. It recalls improvised toys, country life and the strength of a father who believed in his sons before the world ever knew them.

“This song talks about where we came from. We really were those ‘meninos de roça’, running on dirt ground and turning everything into fantasy. The world was small, but the dream was huge,” says Chitãozinho, moved by memories of their upbringing in the countryside.

The lyrics highlight the moment when their father, seeing the sparkle in his sons’ eyes, decides to bet everything on their talent. That decision changed the fate of the family and helped reshape the history of Brazilian sertanejo music.

“Our father believed in us before anyone else. He sacrificed the little we had to give us a viola and a guitar. If he had doubted for even a second, none of this would exist. This song is a thank-you to him and to all parents who back their children’s dreams,” adds Xororó.

    Sertanejo essence and emotional references

Produced by Cláudio Paladini and Xororó, who also arranged the track, “Meninos de Roça” brings the duo’s unmistakable musical identity. It blends contemporary arrangements with the rural roots that have always defined their voices.

Towards the end, a nod to the classic “Evidências” evokes shared memories that remain strong among Brazilian audiences. In this way, the single speaks both to longtime fans and to new listeners.

“Meninos de Roça” turns into melody what has moved generations for decades: the meeting of truth, heritage and dreams. It is a heartfelt return to the origins of a duo that helped shape sertanejo music as Brazil knows it today.

From now on, listeners across the country can revisit this story, which no longer belongs only to two boys from the countryside. It becomes part of everyone who believes in the strength of dreams and the enduring support of family.
