Zurich and Banco Carrefour now offer credit card protection insurance for Carrefour, Atacadão and Sam’s Club cardholders across Brazil.
Credit protection insurance in stores and online
Zurich Seguros and Banco Carrefour have expanded their strategic partnership with the launch of a credit protection insurance for Carrefour, Atacadão and Sam’s Club cardholders. The product offers financial protection in unforeseen situations by covering card bills and loans linked to the cards. Customers can purchase the insurance in Grupo Carrefour Brasil stores, via website, app and call center.
By enabling purchases both in physical stores and digital channels, Banco Carrefour strengthens its portfolio of practical and personalized financial solutions. The goal is to complement the shopping journey and add convenience and care to customers’ daily routines. In this way, the insurance broadens protection for those who rely on the retailer’s credit cards.
Coverage and key benefits
The credit protection insurance helps pay off card debts in cases of death, accidental disability, unemployment, temporary incapacity and hospitalization due to illness or accidents. As a result, it reduces the financial impact on customers and their families during vulnerable moments. Coverage applies to outstanding balances and contracted loans associated with the cards.
The launch also includes extra benefits such as participation in monthly prize draws based on the Federal Lottery. Policyholders gain access to funeral assistance, a food card benefit and a discount club. Furthermore, the eligible age range has been extended, allowing customers up to 70 years old to purchase the product.
Focus on inclusion and financial protection
According to Sidemar Spricigo, Executive Director of Partnerships at Zurich Seguros, the product responds to demographic and economic changes. He notes that life expectancy has risen and people remain economically active for longer, contributing to household income and consumption. “Extending the product to 70-year-olds meets a segment that demands and often lacks protection,” he says.
The credit protection insurance joins a portfolio already offered by the partnership since 2021, including home, funeral, life, card and hospitalization insurance. “One of Zurich’s principles is to democratize social inclusion and access to insurance, offering broad and complete protection to the Brazilian population. With these differentials, the product reinforces our commitment to deliver accessible and comprehensive solutions that follow customers throughout their life journey,” adds Sidemar.
Convenient experience for Carrefour customers
From the retailer’s perspective, the expanded partnership aligns with group priorities. “The partnership with Zurich Seguros, which has already delivered strong results, reinforces one of Grupo Carrefour Brasil’s main goals: providing a convenient, practical and advantageous experience to our customers,” says Renata Rizzo, Director of Business and Products at Banco Carrefour.
Renata points out that many people still see insurance as an expense rather than an investment in protection. For this reason, Banco Carrefour is investing in simple, user-friendly solutions integrated into everyday tools such as credit cards. Customers can hire an essential service with no bureaucracy and affordable installments.
Nationwide reach through stores and digital channels
The credit protection insurance and other Zurich Seguros products are available to Carrefour, Atacadão and Sam’s Club cardholders nationwide. Customers can sign up in Grupo Carrefour Brasil stores in all Brazilian states. They can also use call centers and digital channels dedicated to the cards.
The combination of Carrefour’s retail capillarity and Zurich’s insurance expertise broadens access to financial protection. As a result, more consumers can obtain coverage aligned with their daily spending habits. The model highlights the growing convergence between retail, financial services and personal risk management.
