Sony launches full-frame Alpha 7M5 and SEL28702 lens with advanced AI, 30 fps continuous shooting and stabilized 4K video.
Next-generation full-frame mirrorless
Sony Electronics has announced the Alpha 7M5 (ILCE-7M5), the latest generation of its full-frame mirrorless line. The camera arrives alongside the new SEL28702 lens, both designed for fast, accurate image capture.
The combo delivers reliable autofocus, strong stabilization and consistent performance for both stills and video. As a result, it targets content creators and professionals who demand speed and high image quality.
33 MP sensor and AI-powered tracking
The Alpha 7M5 features a 33-megapixel Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor paired with the BIONZ XR2™ processor with artificial intelligence capabilities. This system allows the camera to automatically recognize subjects and maintain focus on fast-moving action.
With this processing power, the camera achieves continuous shooting of up to 30 frames per second, including in RAW. Sports, wildlife and event photographers gain more confidence when capturing split-second moments.
A standout feature is pre-capture, which records up to one second before the shutter is fully pressed. This helps ensure that critical instants are not missed, especially in unpredictable scenes involving athletes, pets or rapid motion.
Stable 4K video and enhanced audio
On the video side, the Alpha 7M5 records high-quality 4K footage, with settings of 60 or 120 frames per second, depending on the selected mode. Advanced stabilization keeps footage steady even when shooting handheld.
The camera can automatically adjust framing around the subject, making it easier to follow people and moving objects. It also optimizes audio by reducing background noise, which benefits vloggers, journalists and creators who shoot on the go.
SEL28702 lens matches the camera’s speed
The new SEL28702 lens was engineered to take full advantage of the camera’s performance. Compact and lightweight, it supports fast autofocus while zooming, maintaining responsiveness across the range.
The combination works well for both action photography and video, delivering sharp images and smooth transitions. In this way, the kit becomes a versatile choice for creators who need agility and consistency.
Refined design, connectivity and endurance
The Alpha 7M5 also features a fully articulating monitor, comfortable grip and fast Wi-Fi for sharing files or using remote control apps. The body includes two USB-C ports, which simplify data transfer and accessory integration.
Improved battery management and cooling enable longer shooting and recording sessions with reduced risk of overheating. This is especially important for high-resolution video and live content production.
Sustainability and launch in Brazil
Production of the camera and lens uses 100% renewable energy, underscoring Sony’s environmental commitments. Packaging for both products is made from eco-friendly materials, cutting back on plastic usage.
These measures align with the company’s long-term goal of achieving net zero environmental impact by 2050. The launch therefore blends technological innovation with sustainability efforts.
The Alpha 7M5 and SEL28702 lens are scheduled to arrive in Brazil in the first quarter of 2026. Pricing details will be announced closer to launch.
