Thriller #Salve Rosa starring Klara Castanho tops Netflix chart

Brazilian thriller #Salve Rosa, starring Klara Castanho, hits number one on Netflix after winning awards at the Rio Film Festival.

National success on streaming

The psychological thriller #Salve Rosa has reached the top spot among the most-watched films on Netflix Brazil in February 2026. Produced by Panorâmica in collaboration with Elo Studios and Paramount Pictures, the film originally premiered in theaters in October 2025 before gaining new life on streaming.

This achievement consolidates the success of Brazilian cinema in the thriller genre, combining festival recognition and audience impact. Thus, the production highlights the country’s growing strength in telling bold, contemporary stories.

Awards and recognition

At the Rio Film Festival, the film — created by Mara Lobão and directed by Susanna Lira — won Best Film in the Première Brasil section, chosen by the audience. It also took home awards for Best Actress, with Klara Castanho, and Best Costume Design, by Renata Russo.

“Seeing where our story has gone is a dream. I studied every breath, every look, every word so that this girl could have the impact she does,” said Klara Castanho, celebrating the film’s success.

Audience impact

Creator Mara Lobão emphasized the connection with the audience: “It’s amazing to see an independent project reach such results. Since the trailer — with over 10 million views — we felt its potential. Now it’s a reality: the film has gone viral.”

The success reflects the rise of Brazilian productions capable of blending critical acclaim and audience appeal while addressing socially relevant themes.

Storyline and modern themes

Written by Ângela Hirata Fabri, the story explores child exposure on the internet and the pressures of early fame. It follows Rosa (Klara Castanho), a 12-year-old influencer whose life is tightly controlled by her mother Dora (Karine Teles) as they pursue social ascension in a luxury Rio de Janeiro condominium.

Shot in Rio, #Salve Rosa blends tension and social commentary, portraying the fine line between care and control. Its success on streaming reaffirms the prestige of Panorâmica and its collaboration with Elo Studios and Paramount Pictures in Brazilian cinema.
