  Rock in Rio confirms Foo Fighters as headliner on September 4 and announces Fatboy Slim, new map, and major festival updates.

   

Foo Fighters return for an exclusive Brazil show

 

  Rock in Rio 2026 unveiled new attractions and backstage experiences in a unique press event. The organization confirmed Foo Fighters as headliner of the World Stage on September 4, marking an exclusive performance in Brazil. The band returns seven years after a legendary Rock in Rio appearance.

 

  Composed of Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, and Ilan Rubin, Foo Fighters celebrate 31 years of rock history with their world tour and new album “Your Favorite Toy.” The group holds 15 GRAMMY Awards and has been part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since 2021.

   

Fatboy Slim headlines the New Dance Order

 

  British DJ and producer Fatboy Slim, one of electronic music’s most influential figures, will perform on September 7 at the New Dance Order stage. Known for classics like “Praise You” and “Right Here, Right Now,” he promises a high-energy, unforgettable set.

 

  The stage will feature a new design measuring 56.5 meters wide with more than 500m² of LED panels, creating an immersive experience. “This will be the strongest and most technological edition for electronic fans,” said Claudio da Rocha Miranda Filho, stage curator.

   

New map and immersive City of Rock

 

  The event also unveiled the 2026 City of Rock map, introducing redesigned areas and attractions. The Gourmet Square, curated by chef Pedro Siqueira of Sìsì, will feature premium culinary experiences. The World Stage, sponsored by Itaú, will have a full LED facade, while the Sunset Stage and Favela Space expand their artistic reach.

 

  Other features include the Global Village, Supernova Stage, and Lounge Club, offering fans a mix of culture, technology, and entertainment that reinforces Rock in Rio’s “factory of dreams” concept.

   

Festival dates and major attractions

 

  Set for September 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11, 12, 13, 2026, the festival will feature stars such as Elton John, Maroon 5, Bring Me The Horizon, Stray Kids, Demi Lovato, Gilberto Gil, Jamiroquai, and Mumford & Sons. Creator Roberto Medina emphasized the festival’s scale and cultural impact, estimating an economic contribution over R$ 3 billion to Rio de Janeiro.
