“Upcycling Challenge” transforms textile waste into fashion through Mar 4, from Brazil-Belgium student exchange.
Circular fashion spotlight
Faculdade SENAI CETIQT opens “Upcycling Challenge: sustainable paths for fashion’s future” on February 25 at 3 PM at MAC Niterói. Exclusive pieces repurpose professional uniforms and ocean-recovered fishing nets.
Collaboration with Belgium’s Helmo united five students per country. In addition, SENAI CETIQT labs materialized innovative sustainable fashion proposals from textile waste.
Circular economy reflection
Running through March 4, the exhibit explores material reuse, environmental responsibility and textile innovation. Thus, it bridges classroom learning with cultural impact.
Larissa Fidalgo, Fashion Design Coordinator at SENAI CETIQT, emphasizes MAC exposure expands students’ global project understanding. Meanwhile, it validates collaborative pedagogy for contemporary creative demands.
Expert mentorship
Students received guidance from sustainability expert Almir França, who sourced materials. He underscores the museum’s symbolic power.
“In a museum, you deliver thought. This clothing becomes reflection,” Almir states. In this way, the exhibit positions fashion as environmental and cultural change agent.
