Rio was the top destination for 41% of foreign Carnival visitors in 2025, and international ticket sales for 2026 are up 23.2%, boosting premium suites.

In 2025, Rio de Janeiro consolidated its status as the most desired international Carnival destination. Official data from Brazil’s federal government and Embratur indicate the country welcomed nearly 300,000 foreign tourists. In addition, more than 41% chose Rio as their main destination.

According to the figures, more than 148,000 international visitors arrived by plane. The celebrations boosted both tourism and the economy, with hotels, restaurants, and services receiving travelers from many countries. Thus, the estimated impact for Brazil reached around \(R\$ 12\) billion.

Embratur points to stronger demand for 2026

A survey published by Embratur in December 2025 signaled higher demand for 2026. International airline ticket sales for the Carnival period rose 23.2% compared with 2025. Therefore, expectations point to an even larger flow of foreign tourists.

The increase reinforces Rio’s place as a global Carnival destination. At the same time, the city offers options for different visitor profiles. On the other hand, Sapucaí remains the event’s central symbol.

Premium suites draw attention beyond the stands

Beyond street blocs and parades, Rio provides experiences aimed at comfort and privacy. Premium Sapucaí suites attract audiences seeking enhanced services and curated music programming. This way, these spaces have become established meeting points during Carnival.

“Rio does not attract only those who want to enjoy street blocs and parades: tourists from several countries seek a complete experience of culture, music, and leisure, including museums, beaches, gastronomy, and historic neighborhoods. At Camarote Alma Rio, the goal is precisely to translate that spirit into a sensory and emotional experience,” says Alessandra Pirotelli, a businesswoman with more than 26 years of experience as a director and producer in Rio’s Carnival.

Suites stand out for their privileged views and upgraded services. Infrastructure typically includes an open bar with quality drinks and a strong dining offering. In addition, air-conditioned lounges and social areas elevate the experience.

Audiences in these spaces include international tourists and Brazilians. Thus, the suites also function as networking and social environments. Therefore, Sapucaí’s appeal extends beyond traditional grandstands.

Alma Rio confirms mixed curation for 2026

In 2026, Camarote Alma Rio returns to Marquês de Sapucaí with a music curation mixing Brazilian and international artists. The leadership team includes Alessandra Pirotelli, Pedro Caldas, Marcelo Fonseca, and Grupo Live, represented by Guga Pereira and Wilson Anastácio. In this way, the venue aims to reinforce its premium experience proposition.

Confirmed Brazilian acts include Gilsons, Mart’nália, Pretinho da Serrinha, and Marcelo D2. Global names listed include Maxa, WhoMadeWho, Jamie Jones, Black Coffee, Miguelle & Tons, and Ahmed Spins. In addition, the lineup features Bhaskar, Bob Moses, Malive, Dennis Cruz, Niv Yefet, Carlita, and Unfazed, among others.

With a capacity of 1,500 people per night, the venue will span three floors. The space totals 2,500 \(m^2\) and includes an outdoor lounge facing the avenue. Finally, the project is framed as an example of how Rio blends tradition, music, and sophisticated experiences during Carnival.
