On January 31, Grand Hyatt Rio will feature Salgueiro’s Furiosa drumline, dancers and a samba circle, plus a full feijoada and a vegan option.
Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro will kick off Carnival season with a pre-Carnival feijoada on January 31. The urban resort sits between the ocean and the lagoon in Barra da Tijuca. In addition, the hotel is nearing its 10-year anniversary.
The party will be led by Salgueiro, one of Brazil’s most traditional samba schools. The Tijuca-based group has nine titles in Rio’s Carnival. In this way, the event puts samba culture at the center of the afternoon.
Lineup and schedule
The event runs from 1 pm to 5 pm. Salgueiro’s Bateria Furiosa and the school’s dancers are confirmed. Meanwhile, a samba circle will round out the live music program.
A full feijoada will be served with classic side dishes. The setup also includes a selection of cheeses and antipasti, plus assorted snacks. Next, guests will find a dedicated salad station.
Menu, vegan option and drinks
Desserts will be presented on a special table curated by pastry chef Paula Lopes. In addition, the hotel will offer a vegan feijoada made with white beans and items such as spicy soy sausage, soy calabresa and vegan bacon. It also includes mushrooms and plant-based sides like collard greens with Brazil nuts and plantain farofa.
Included drinks are soft drinks, draft beer, caipirinha, caipvodka, Aperol Spritz and gin and tonic. Prices are R$ 440 for adults, R$ 330 for ages 13 to 17, and R$ 220 for children ages 6 to 12. Finally, children under 5 cost R$ 50.
