Lázaro Ramos and Taís Araujo honored at Paris Brazilian Film Festival

Couple receives top tribute at 28th Festival de Cinema Brasileiro de Paris for their theater, TV, and film legacies.

First couple to be honored

The Festival de Cinema Brasileiro de Paris names Lázaro Ramos and Taís Araujo as the honorees for its 28th edition. Married since 2004 and parents of two children, the couple stands out for their individual achievements and joint contributions to Brazilian audiovisual arts.

In 2025, Taís Araujo marked 30 years in the industry with over 30 TV roles and 10 films. Meanwhile, Lázaro Ramos boasts 27 years of work, including more than 30 TV productions and 40 feature films. Thus, they become the first couple to receive the festival’s highest honor.

Event from April 7-14

The festival runs from April 7 to 14, 2026, at the historic L’Arlequin cinema in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Curator Katia Adler curated a special selection highlighting key moments in their careers. Full programming will be announced soon.

Highlights include “Medida Provisória”, Lázaro’s directorial debut featuring Taís in a lead role. The retrospective also showcases “Madame Satã” and “Tudo o que Aprendemos Juntos” from Lázaro, plus “Pixinguinha – Um Homem Carinhoso” and “Garrincha – Estrela Solitária” from Taís.

Symbolic and artistic impact

Katia Adler emphasizes the duo’s significance. “Lázaro and Taís embody the strength, intelligence, and diversity of contemporary Brazilian cinema,” states the curator. Through their careers, they create iconic characters and engage society, expanding representation on and off screen.

The pair portrays a plural, complex Brazil in transformation, a vision the festival aims to share with European audiences. Therefore, the tribute underscores their roles as artists and engaged citizens.
