A night of Brazilian pop rock classics

To close 2025 in style, composer, singer and saxophonist George Israel returns to Blue Note Rio. A founding member of Kid Abelha, he performs the show “George Israel Canta Cazuza e Kid” with his band. The concert is scheduled for December 19, at 10:30 p.m..

With four decades on the road, George revisits songs from Kid Abelha, written with Paula Toller and Leoni. He also includes hits from his partnership with Cazuza, with whom he composed more than 13 tracks. The result is a journey through key moments of Brazilian pop rock.

The setlist features songs such as “Lágrimas e Chuva”, “Eu Tive um Sonho” and “Nada Sei”. The repertoire also brings Cazuza collaborations like “Brasil”, “Burguesia” and “Solidão que Nada”. Special songs such as “Você Vai Me Enganar Sempre” and “Nosso Amor a Gente Inventa” complete the show.

Blue Note Rio: spaces and weekly agenda

Blue Note Rio occupies an area of about 700 m², divided into three main spaces. The Varanda Blue seats around 110 guests, offering an open-air ambience by Copacabana beach. On the first floor, the Piano Bar accommodates up to 140 people.

On Thursdays, the venue hosts the Piano Bar Experience, featuring house pianists and special guests. The lineup is announced weekly, with an artistic cover charge of R$ 25. The format offers an intimate setting for jazz and piano lovers.

Saturday afternoons are dedicated to Feijoada Raiz, with live samba and an exclusive buffet. Guests enjoy the traditional Brazilian dish in the outdoor area, on the Calçadão, even closer to the sea. Thus, Blue Note Rio blends live music, cuisine and Rio’s seaside atmosphere.

Sunday Cozido & Bossa Nova experience

On Sundays, the club presents “Cozido & Bossa Nova” from noon to 5 p.m.. The classic Portuguese-style cozido is prepared with beef brisket, pork ribs, sausage, cured meat and pork trotters. Side dishes include rice, assorted vegetables and a rich meat-broth pirão.

The individual dish costs R$ 89, while the portion for two people is R$ 170, with drinks charged separately. A glass of wine is the chef’s pairing suggestion. Throughout the service, a trio plays three sets of Bossa Nova standards, with free admission.

The Brazilian Blue Note franchise was brought by entrepreneur Luiz Calainho. Sponsors include Heineken, Blue Moon, Hotel Fairmont and Sadia Speciale, with Porto Bank as master sponsor. Together, they support a calendar focused on quality music, gastronomy and a distinctly carioca atmosphere.
