Pre-New Year show at Portela
On 27 December, singer Diogo Nogueira returns to Rio de Janeiro with his tour in a special pre-New Year mood. The concert will take place at the Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Portela. The event starts at 3 p.m. and tickets are already on sale.
To make the celebration even more special, the show will feature the cast of the Show da Portela. They will bring to the stage the strength, beauty and magic of the samba school that is an icon of the genre. The idea is to turn the afternoon into a grand tribute to Brazilian music.
Hits, tributes and Brazilian classics
The setlist includes new arrangements for Diogo’s hits such as “Pé na Areia”, “Alma Boêmia”, “Clareou” and “Sou Eu”. The singer also brings Bahia’s samba de roda and highlights iconic songs from the Brazilian popular songbook. From Arlindo Cruz to Chico Buarque, from Zeca Pagodinho to Tim Maia, everything circles back to samba.
The repertoire embraces and connects the audience with the diversity of Brazilian rhythms and sounds. Diogo pays tribute to great masters with new versions of “Espelho”, “O Meu Lugar”, “Primavera”, “Andança” and “Aquele Abraço”. Tracks from his project “SAGRADO” will also be performed, revisiting his roots in samba.
Dance, choreography and full band
Dance, a constant presence in Diogo’s work, will have a special place in the show. Choreographies are signed by the ballet of Leandro Azevedo’s dance company. The actor, dancer and choreographer was part of the Brazilian dance team at the 2008 Olympics and is a three-time Super Dança dos Famosos champion alongside Paolla Oliveira.
The concert will also feature visual surprises revealed on a large LED panel throughout the performance. Diogo will be accompanied by a band of 11 musicians, including Rafael dos Anjos (guitar and musical director), Henrique Garcia (cavaquinho) and Julio Florindo (bass). Percussion, backing vocals and trombone complete the powerful live sound.
