Premiere brings cast and family together
São Paulo hosted, on Tuesday (9), the premiere of feature film “Asa Branca – A Voz da Arena”. The special screening marked the first time the movie was shown in cinemas. The film will reach theaters across Brazil on 18 December.
The event brought together the main cast, director Guga Sander and Sandra dos Santos, widow of the rodeo announcer who inspired the story. In this way, the night reinforced the bond between the production and Asa Branca’s real life. Family members, guests and crew shared emotional moments.
Felipe Simas plays Asa Branca
Actor Felipe Simas stars as Asa Branca, giving life to the legendary announcer on the big screen. Lara Tremouroux plays his partner in the film. The cast also includes Camila Brandão as Jibóia, Fábio Lago as JotapÊ and Carlos Francisco as Wandão.
The premiere marked the start of the film’s journey with cinema audiences. It also created a space for interaction between actors, technical team and the family of the real Asa Branca. The atmosphere was one of celebration and tribute to a rodeo icon.
Biopic follows rise and fall of a rodeo legend
“Asa Branca – A Voz da Arena” portrays the announcer’s life story and legacy, from his humble beginnings in Turiúba, in São Paulo’s countryside. It then follows his meteoric rise to stardom during the 1990s. Finally, it shows his decline in the early 2000s.
The film highlights Asa Branca’s trademarks in rodeos throughout Brazil’s interior. These include the use of wireless microphones, heavy rock music, fireworks and even dramatic helicopter entrances. Thus, the feature explores how he transformed the way rodeos were presented.
The project is backed by Claro, BNDES, FSA, ANCINE and BRDE. Production is signed by Sentimental Filme, in coproduction with Ventre Studio and Claro. Distribution is handled by Paris Filmes, which will release the movie in theaters across the country.
