With a samba night in São Paulo, Vogue Brazil announces “Carnavalia” as the theme of the 2026 Carnival Ball, honoring samba and Brazilian culture.
Samba night sets the tone for the Ball
A night devoted to samba and the Carnival spirit marked the announcement of the Vogue Ball 2026 theme. The pre-ball took place on Tuesday (10) at União Fraterna, in São Paulo. Guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere that underscored the magazine’s connection with Brazilian culture.
During the event, Vogue Brazil officially unveiled “Carnavalia” as the inspiration for the next edition. The announcement was made by Paula Merlo, the magazine’s Content Director. In this way, Vogue reinforces the Ball’s historic relationship with Carnival and its many expressions.
“Carnavalia” honors samba and Brazilian identity
The theme “Carnavalia” pays tribute to Carnival, its rhythms, its Brazilianness and the freedom to express joy through color and movement. The concept highlights the creative power of the streets, blocos and samba schools. Thus, it celebrates Brazil’s aesthetic and cultural diversity.
The 2026 edition also marks 110 years of samba’s consolidation as a musical genre. Vogue emphasizes the rhythm’s historical and cultural importance as a symbol of Brazilian identity. The Ball aims to be a grand homage to samba and its stories.
Samba circle and guest list
To immerse guests in the Carnival atmosphere, the night featured a live samba circle led by Samba do Adilson. The performance anticipated the festive spirit that will guide the 2026 Ball. Music, fashion and celebration came together in a preview of what is to come.
Guests included Halessia, Laura Fernandez, Luiza Brasil, Luanda Vieira, Sam Porto and Juan Guedes, among others. Their presence reflects Vogue’s dialogue with different generations and creative scenes. As a result, the pre-ball already signaled a diverse and representative edition.

The Vogue Ball 2026 is scheduled for 7 February at the iconic Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. The legendary hotel once again hosts one of the most anticipated events of the Carnival season. The Ball traditionally brings together fashion, fantasy and performances in a single night.
