Boutique hotel Estrela D’Água in Trancoso launches a décor show signed by David Bastos, hosts his new book release and announces an exclusive partnership with Trussardi for the 2025-2026 summer season.
Summer 2025-2026 opens with design and hospitality
The 2025-2026 summer season at Estrela D’Água, in Trancoso (Bahia), arrives with a strong focus on design, lifestyle and guest experience. In the second half of December, the property opens a décor exhibition created by architect David Bastos. On December 27, the hotel will also host the launch of his third book.
According to co-owner Evelyn Gavioli, the agenda reinforces the hotel’s commitment to curating unique stays. The idea is to combine comfort, aesthetics and exclusivity in front of Praia dos Nativos. In this context, the new season mirrors Estrela D’Água’s boutique spirit.
Concept: sea, sun, beach and Brazilian flair
For this exhibition, Bastos drew inspiration from the beach, sea and sun as core elements. To him, they convey life, well-being, lightness and the “solar happiness” that only Trancoso can evoke. Nautical colors, sea breeze freshness and the energy of Bahia’s axé also informed the creative process.
The project was born from the desire to refresh and further elevate the look of one of Praia dos Nativos’ most iconic properties. The proposal was to bring a contemporary touch without losing Trancoso’s relaxed yet sophisticated soul. As a result, the spaces reflect the lifestyle of southern Bahia.
Bastos highlights the balance between comfort, elegance and Brazilian identity. Natural fabrics, handcrafted weaves, a nautical palette and sea-inspired details define the ambience. Each element is meant to provide visual well-being, a welcoming feel and an irresistible charm.
Exclusive collaboration with Trussardi
To bring the vision to life, the architect partnered with Trussardi, a luxury brand in bed, bath and lifestyle. The company developed exclusive fabrics based on Bastos’ designs. Together, they defined the colors, textures and Pantone chart used throughout the hotel.
The new visuals appear in cushions, beach towels, social seating and sun umbrellas. During the high season, Trussardi will also surprise guests with exclusive gifts. On the beach, the brand will offer treats such as chilled towels, sunglasses cleaning service and Bacio di Latte ice cream.
For Giovana De Pieri, Trussardi’s Head of Marketing and Product, the collaboration was built jointly and carefully aligned with Estrela D’Água’s identity. The Italian touch, sophistication and comfort that characterize the brand guided all decisions. Being part of the Trancoso lifestyle strengthens Trussardi’s connection with its audience.
Leather accents, furniture and natural stones
The exhibition also features leather table accessories such as placemats, trays and napkin rings. Inspired by the same coastal mood, they were crafted by Zanquê, a Brazilian décor brand that works with artisanal production in southern Brazil. The choice reinforces the value placed on handcrafted pieces.
The hotel’s furniture gains prominence through pieces by Biasa Home, a São Paulo brand focused on sustainable, handmade products. Marble and natural stone surfaces are executed by Natural Stone Home, based in Salvador. Decorative details, including table legs and accents, involve Sonja Lopes & Nubia Caloula and Monte Store, both from Bahia.
Launch of David Bastos’ new book
To mark the exhibition, Estrela D’Água will host the launch of David Bastos’ third book. The event is scheduled for December 27, at the hotel’s oca, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.. The publication, written by Célia Paccini, presents 49 selected projects.
The works span cities such as Salvador, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Trancoso, Geneva, Lisbon and several islands worldwide. According to Célia, the projects are driven more by feelings than by trends. From a cosmopolitan penthouse to a beachfront home clad in dendê straw, emotion is the connecting thread.
