YSL Beauty unveils Libre Vanille Couture, golden essence of freedom

  YSL Beauty launches Libre Vanille Couture, limited edition that boosts the floral-aromatic icon with a couture Vanilla Caviar accord and golden rum.

Freedom in its golden form

  Yves Saint Laurent Beauty presents LIBRE Vanille Couture, a limited edition that celebrates feminine freedom in its most precious form. In this new creation, gold is turned into fragrance and captures a freedom that is intense, radiant and boldly irresistible. The launch reinforces Libre’s status as a modern icon.

  LIBRE’s signature duality — the aromatic strength of lavender and the enveloping luminosity of orange blossom — gains a new dimension. The contrast is elevated by the gourmand sophistication of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, expressed as a couture Vanilla Caviar accord infused with golden rum liqueur. The result is a radiant, addictive and daring scent: freedom in liquid form.

The most delicious, radiant Libre

  The new YSL Beauty fragrance reinterprets Libre’s emblematic codes and expands its many faces of freedom. LIBRE Vanille Couture is described as a “drop of gold” — inside and out. At a time when freedom has never been more precious, the scent translates this idea into a golden composition.

  The bottle holds a rich, luminous perfume: golden liquid built around a Vanilla Caviar accord infused with golden rum. This heart weaves together with Ourika orange blossom and Provence lavender, two exclusive YSL Beauty ingredients. In this way, the floral-aromatic signature gains an amber, gourmand glow.

“To represent gold, an eternal and precious material, we chose a unique quality of Bourbon Vanilla absolute — more generous and powerful than ever — infused with Rum absolute and its liqueur facets,” say Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm, Libre’s Master Perfumers.

  The brand uses Bourbon Vanilla sourced from a sustainable program in Madagascar, carefully matured to reach maximum intensity. This alchemy creates a golden amber floral fragrance, addictive and deliciously sensual — like wearing a YSL tuxedo cast in liquid gold. Depth is enhanced by the concentrated Vanilla Caviar extract.

  This extract reveals the purest, creamiest nuances of ripe vanilla beans. In contrast, the brightness of orange blossom and the aromatic tension of lavender bring freshness to the opulent base. As a result, LIBRE Vanille Couture delivers a bold and irresistible signature.

Top note — Provence lavender (exclusive to YSL Beauty);
Heart notes — Ourika orange blossom and Vanilla Caviar accord;
Base notes — Rum absolute, golden amber and sensual balsamic nuances.

A couture statement in intense gold

  Guided by Yves Saint Laurent’s famous quote — “I love gold, it is a magical color; it is the color of the sun” — the iconic jewel-like bottle, designed by Suzanne Dalton, returns as a true couture object. A textured metallic gold armor wraps the glass, revealing the warm glow of the fragrance. The design reinforces Libre’s jewelry aesthetic.

  The legendary YSL Cassandra logo appears in a golden version, perfectly curved and set along the bottle’s edge in a feat of engineering and high fashion. A precisely cut glass “V” underlines the “Y” neckline, slicing deep into the geometric bottle. The lines echo the sleek, tailored silhouette of a Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket.

  A tilted black cap crowns the bottle, adding a couture touch of asymmetry, while a refined golden chain wraps the neck. Together, these elements translate strength, luxury and freedom into a sculptural object. The result is a collector’s piece for fragrance and design lovers.

Campaign with Dua Lipa: inner flame of freedom

  The LIBRE Vanille Couture campaign was filmed between skyscrapers and the desert, highlighting the contrast between energy and stillness. It celebrates the freedom to reinvent oneself without asking for permission. Directed by Diana Kunst and starring Dua Lipa, the film is an ode to following one’s own impulses.

  Set to Dua’s rendition of “Think”, by Aretha Franklin, the short film moves between city and desert in a visual dance of black, white and gold. The imagery reflects the fragrance’s intensity and luminosity. In this narrative, space and movement become metaphors for inner liberation.

“Radical acts of freedom can come from something as simple as finding inspiration on a city corner, but also from following your inner muse, responding to impulses that excite you, drawing your own path and reinventing life your way — for the pleasure and power it gives you,” says Diana, director of the Libre Vanille Couture campaign.

  According to the director, for Dua, the city is a playground and a blank canvas where she can explore different territories and identities. The desert, on the other hand, reflects her inner world, which fuels her urban persona. It is also a retreat where she can redefine herself before conquering the world again.

  Bathed in the golden glow of flames, Dua Lipa embodies the Libre woman — bold, magnetic and fearless. She represents freedom not only in grand gestures, but as a constant state of being, ignited by an inner fire that guides and inspires. This vision anchors the fragrance’s storytelling.
