CECOL Project expands with free Beach Tennis classes

The CECOL Project expands its activities with free Beach Tennis classes for residents of Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira, promoting health and community integration.

The CECOL Project begins a new phase by introducing free Beach Tennis classes, expanding the range of sports activities offered to the Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira communities. Active since May, the initiative reinforces its commitment to well-being, social interaction and access to sports.

Sport as a tool for inclusion

The Beach Tennis classes are open to people of all ages and experience levels. The initiative aims to encourage healthy lifestyles, strengthen community bonds and provide new sporting experiences for local residents.

“Since May, we have been developing our activities to offer residents of Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira, beyond entertainment, opportunities for health and well-being for the community,” says Hélio Motta, the project’s creator, which is sponsored by Light.

Schedule and location

The Beach Tennis training sessions take place at Leme Beach, in front of the J.i in Rio kiosk, on Avenida Atlântica, near number 752. Classes are offered on different days and times to better serve the community.

Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 10am and 10am to 11am. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, sessions run from 9am to 10am and 10am to 11am, with additional classes on Saturdays from 8am to 9am.

About the CECOL Project

The Community Sports Center of Leme, known as CECOL, is a social project created by Hélio Motta, a resident of the neighborhood for over forty years. The initiative offers free access to various sports activities for children and young people from Chapéu Mangueira and Babilônia.

Since May 15, the project has provided eight sports modalities, including swimming, football, gymnastics, muay thai, boxing, capoeira and dance. All instructors are community residents, reinforcing local integration and creating opportunities for professionals, with support from the Chapéu Mangueira Residents Association and sponsorship from Light.
