Brazil takes 2nd place in SailGP 2025 Impact League

Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team ends historic debut with 2nd place in the Impact League during the 2025 season final in Abu Dhabi.

The 2025 SailGP season comes to an end on November 29 and 30 in Abu Dhabi with the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final. On this occasion, the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team secured a historic overall 2nd place in the Impact League, the parallel competition that rewards sustainability, inclusion and governance initiatives developed by teams throughout the year.

International recognition and social impact

After winning the final stage of the Impact League with the Driving Change project, focused on female inclusion in high-performance sailing, the Brazilian team strengthened its position as the only representative from the Global South on the impact podium. The initiative highlighted the team’s commitment to diversity and social progress in sport.

Led by Martine Grael, the first female captain in SailGP history, the team завершes its debut season with impressive results on the water. Brazil secured victories in two races during the 2025 season, a rare achievement for a first-year team competing aboard the high-speed F50 catamarans.

Final stage format in Abu Dhabi

Unlike regular events, the Abu Dhabi final will follow a special format. The stage winner will be determined by the total points earned across the weekend races, without a final three-boat showdown. The overall season champion will then be decided in a last race between the three highest-ranked teams of the year.

Although Brazil is not directly competing for the season title race, the battle remains intense. Emirates Great Britain leads the standings, followed by New Zealand, Australia and Spain, all fighting for a spot in the decisive final.

Sport and entertainment combined

Beyond the action on the water, the Grand Final will feature major live entertainment. On Saturday, November 29, Olly Murs will perform after the races. On Sunday, November 30, DJ Mark Wright will close the season with a final celebration at the SailGP Race Stadium.

Races take place from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm local time, corresponding to 7:00 am to 8:30 am in Brasília, with live broadcast on Band Sports and Sportv.
