Rock in Rio 2026 has announced Sir Elton John as its first headliner, performing on the World Stage on September 7 in his only show in Brazil. On the same day, Gilberto Gil will take the stage just before Elton, delivering a special performance created for the festival.
Elton John returns for exclusive Brazilian show
After concluding the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in 2023, Elton John returns to Brazil with a performance that reaffirms his legacy as one of the most acclaimed solo artists in music history. The singer holds the prestigious EGOT status, reflecting his broad recognition across artistic fields.

Gilberto Gil marks historic meeting on stage
Brazilian legend Gilberto Gil will perform an iconic set featuring his greatest hits. He highlighted the significance of sharing the same stage with Elton John at Rock in Rio.

New stage design and The Flight return
The World Stage will feature a groundbreaking new design, fully covered with high-definition LED panels, transforming it into a massive visual screen. The structure will measure 104 meters wide and 31.5 meters high, delivering an immersive experience.
The aerial show The Flight also returns, featuring synchronized acrobatics and daytime fireworks, enhancing the festival’s spectacular atmosphere.
