Single “Trait” marks Deadcat’s new phase with guitars, synths and a dense mood ahead of the album Goth Ranch.
Blending the somber with the affective, singer, songwriter and producer Deadcat released the single “Trait” on November 20. The track is the first preview of his second album, Goth Ranch, scheduled for the first half of 2026. With striking guitars, enveloping synths and a dense, melodic and sensual atmosphere, the artist ushers in an even more experimental moment in his career.
Recorded at Estúdio Freak and distributed by Virgin Music Group, “Trait” expands a concept the artist defines as a meeting point between goth, indie and western — all infused with humor and artistic freedom. The lyrics transform American fishing metaphors into intimate poetry written for his wife, Rapha. The single’s cover art is by Ottopapi.
Intimate lyricism and refined production
The song, written by Deadcat and Iurii Laskin, shapes a narrative where irony, vulnerability and melancholic hedonism intertwine. With English lyrics and symbolic imagery, the artist reinforces his ability to translate complex emotions into striking soundscapes.
The recording features Deadcat (vocals, guitar and synth), Antônio Paoliello (synth bass and backing vocals), Felipe Pizzutiello (bass), Iurii Laskin (drum machine) and Letícia Veras Carreira (vocals). Mixing was handled by Antonio Paoliello and Valentina Gonçalves, while mastering was done by Alex DeTurk, known for his work with David Bowie, Foo Fighters and Clairo.
Release show in São Paulo
The release of “Trait” will be celebrated on November 28 at Casa Rockambole, in São Paulo. The event is part of a night dedicated to the new Latin American independent scene, promoted by Seloki Records, with performances by Ottopapi and Tall Juan, plus DJ sets by Dinho Almeida (Boogarins).
Deadcat takes the stage at 9 p.m., with a special appearance by Groovy Loff. The program runs until late night, with tickets priced between R$ 30 and R$ 60 depending on the lot. The venue has capacity for 600 people.
An artist in constant reinvention
Born in Curitiba and currently based in São Paulo, Deadcat spent ten years in England, where he earned a degree in Music Industry and began shaping his artistic identity. His debut album, released in 2023, featured tracks such as “Scarlett”, which surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify.
At 33, the artist is preparing the release of Goth Ranch, a project that promises to deepen his signature blend of alternative pop, existentialism and dark humor — a universe that is melancholic, intriguing and increasingly distinct.
