Sunset kiosk opens in November in Barra da Tijuca, blending American style with Brazilian flavors.
The west zone of Rio de Janeiro is about to welcome a new hotspot: the Sunset kiosk, managed by Orla Rio. Scheduled to open in November near Posto 3 at Barra da Tijuca Beach, the venue promises a mix of entertainment, distinctive cuisine and a relaxed seaside atmosphere.
The project is the longtime dream of American entrepreneur Michael Bryan, who chose Barra da Tijuca to bring his vision to life. He aims to create an inviting and authentic environment featuring a deck, TVs broadcasting Brazilian football and American sports, and a fully pet-friendly space.
Culinary fusion and beachside experience
According to João Marcello Barreto, president of Orla Rio, Sunset is a key addition to the ongoing revitalization of the West Zone shoreline, elevating Barra da Tijuca as a hub for leisure and innovation. The blend of U.S. influences with traditional Brazilian dishes shapes the identity of the new kiosk.
The menu features handcrafted burgers, hot dogs, picanha, sandwiches and more than 30 varieties of pastries, including sweet and vegetarian options. The drink selection includes draft beer, bottled beers, caipirinhas, caipivodkas, fresh juices and the traditional Brazilian coconut water.
Happy hour and special programming
The kiosk will also host a special happy hour every Friday during the summer, starting at 5 p.m., with live music to create a lively and relaxing late-afternoon experience by the sea.
According to Ingrid Lagrotta, Orla Rio’s marketing and business director, Sunset will further strengthen the region as a hub for culture, gastronomy and entertainment. She notes that both locals and tourists will find a vibrant new meeting point along the seafront.
West Zone shoreline expansion
The opening is part of a broader expansion in the West Zone waterfront. By the end of 2025, six new operations will be launched: Nosso Quiosque, Mirante Mar, Pato com Laranja, Frutos de Goiás, Radisson and Tô na Praia, distributed between Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes.
These additions reinforce Orla Rio’s commitment to enriching the beach experience with diversity and vitality, ensuring the West Zone remains a must-visit destination for residents and visitors alike.
