The St. Petersburg Classical Ballet, one of the world’s most respected companies, returns to Brazil in November 2025 with Tchaikovsky’s classic, “The Nutcracker.” More than a performance, the production represents a ritual of excellence, discipline, and enchantment, reaffirming Russian ballet as a global reference.
Cast and Direction
Under the direction of Kirill Safin, a graduate of the prestigious Vaganova Academy and the Mariinsky Ballet, the company will present 24 dancers on stage, including Alexander Volchkov, premier of the Bolshoi Ballet, and Maria Tomilova, principal dancer of the Yuri Grigorovich Ballet. Volchkov has performed over 150 shows in 2025 alone and has been on a continuous seven-month tour, demonstrating exceptional dedication and professionalism.
Discipline and Daily Routine
With a roster of approximately 70 dancers, the company maintains an intense training routine, with daily ballet classes and continuous rehearsals to refine technique and choreography. This daily pursuit of perfection preserves the standard of excellence that defines Russian ballet, a cultural tradition that has endured for centuries.
Brazilian and International Tour
Brazilian audiences will be the first to experience “The Nutcracker” in 2025, with performances in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Goiânia, and Brasília. Following its Brazilian leg, the production will tour Argentina, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Colombia, bringing tradition, resilience, and magic to international audiences.
