FERALKAT dives into inner seas with “Tsunami,” lead single from KARUKASY

Curitiba-based artist FERALKAT presents “Tsunami”, the lead single from her upcoming album KARUKASY, set to release in the first half of 2026. The track will be available on digital platforms from November 14 and marks the beginning of a new creative cycle for singer, songwriter, and producer Natasha Durski. The release show takes place on November 19 at El Niño Fest in Curitiba, alongside Sophia Chablau, Uma Enorme Perda de Tempo, Terraplana, and Resp3x.

The concept of KARUKASY

KARUKASY, an ancient Tupi word meaning “afternoon pain,” forms the conceptual backbone of the album — a sonic and emotional exploration of melancholy and nostalgia at the end of the day. In “Tsunami,” this concept manifests through ethereal layers, immersive guitars, and sirenic vocals that guide the listener through turbulent inner seas.

“This song is about the impact of a difficult breakup, the moment when an entire life has to be left behind,” explains Natasha. “The ‘Tsunami’ represents both the turbulent internal sea and the tears of that pain. The sample from Beach House’s ‘Space Song’ reinforces this feeling, with the line ‘who will dry your eyes when it falls apart’ echoing in the solitude of that ending.”

Production and sound

Produced, recorded, and mixed in the artist’s home studio, “Tsunami” showcases an aesthetic maturity and deepens FERALKAT’s signature sound: a hybrid of dreampop, indie, bedroom pop, post rock, and math rock, characterized by cinematic textures and dense atmospheres. “I worked a lot on panning and stereo, so I recommend listening with quality headphones or sound system to fully experience the track,” Natasha adds.

The track features vocals, lyrics, guitars, synths, drums, and beats by Natasha Durski, bass by Fellipe A. Dantas, mixing by Natasha and Fellipe, and mastering by Stefanos Pinkuss. Influences include Björk, Beach House, Magdalena Bay, PJ Harvey (White Chalk era), Tame Impala, Cocteau Twins, Ruído/mm, Julee Cruise, and DIIV, inspiring the layered and spatial production.
